Young Achievers Celebrate Qualification Success at KIC Radio

A group of talented young individuals proudly received their qualifications after completing a Level 1 Award in Skills For Working In Digital Industries programme at KIC Radio, marking a significant milestone in their personal and professional development.

Since KICfm, now KIC Radio, relaunched in June 2024 - Ten young individuals have worked hard to upskill and secure a Level 1 Award in Skills For Working in Digital Industries. Today (19/02/2024), they were presented with their qualification certificates by Walsall Council Leader, Cllr Garry Perry in a ceremony held at KIC Studios.

The Level 1 Award in Skills for Working in Digital Industries course is designed to provide young people with the essential skills needed to succeed in the digital media sector, covering radio production, podcast creation, social media marketing, and editing. They also developed key workplace skills, including teamwork, problem-solving, and communication, all of which are highly valued by employers.

KIC Radio provides an exciting learning environment where students could apply their skills in a real-life work setting. Using the station’s radio and podcast studio facilities, supported by industry professionals, they created digital content and gain hands-on experience that prepares them for the evolving digital landscape.

Speaking at the certificate presentation event, Benjamin Williams, course tutor at KIC Radio, praised the group for their dedication and hard work. "It has been a real pleasure to work with such an amazing group of young people. They’ve worked incredibly hard, not only to achieve their qualifications but also to gain a deep understanding of radio, podcasting and other media industry roles—something most of them had never tried before. It’s also been great to see their confidence grow throughout the course."
