KIC Radio Youth Conference Empowers 200 Young Voices Across Walsall
In an inspiring event funded by the Bring The Power - A Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund, KIC Radio welcomed 200 young people from across the Walsall borough for the first-ever KIC Radio Youth Conference. The event was designed to foster community, encourage active participation, and give young people aged 15-18 a platform to voice their ideas and concerns to local, regional and national leaders and change makers.

During the day young people had the opportunity to try out a variety of sports as well as share their concerns on issues that affect them in everyday life. The day kicked off with an energetic morning of sports, encouraging participation in physical activity and teamwork among attendees. From friendly matches to group exercises, these activities set a lively tone.

In the afternoon, the conference pivoted to focus on issues close to the hearts of Walsall’s youth. Attendees were given a unique chance to sit down with local, regional, and national leaders, as well as changemakers from various fields. Through open discussions and Q&A sessions, participants had a direct channel to share their concerns on pressing topics such as mental health, education, employment opportunities, and social justice.
Leaders were moved by the thoughtful, passionate input from attendees. Many of the young speakers expressed hope that the conference would lead to tangible changes and the prioritization of youth perspectives in local policy-making.

One participant shared, "Just wanted to say the KIC Radio Youth Conference was amazing, very well organised and everyone who I spoke to said it was good and wanted to learn more from the speakers.. also the sports event in the morning was brilliant lovely people to work with ❤️"
Another said, "I feel like I left the KIC Radio Youth Conference feeling quite inspired. I think it was a realy good atmosphere, and taken very serious. I actually realy enjoyed it. I feel like it has made me more awear speaking to the people that came in. I've been talking to my family about it"
