Job Title: Media Training Coordinator (Radio & Podcasting)

Job Type: Full-time (Monday to Friday, occasional weekends)

About Us: We are a dynamic youth led media organisation dedicated to empowering young people by providing them with the tools, skills, and platforms to express their voices through radio, podcasting, and other media channels. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Media Training Coordinator to join our team, take charge of our radio and podcasting studios, and deliver engaging training to young people.
Job Overview: As the Media Training Coordinator, you will play a key role in managing our radio, podcasting, and editing studios, ensuring their smooth operation and delivering expert training to young people. Your work will equip them with essential media skills, including radio production, podcast creation, and audio editing. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organised, and passionate about youth development, while being a team player who thrives in a creative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Studio Management:
- Open and close the radio, podcasting, and editing studios each day.
- Oversee the daily operations of the studios, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained in the studio spaces.
Training and Mentoring:
- Design and deliver comprehensive training sessions on radio production, podcasting, and audio editing for young people.
- Develop and adapt training materials to cater for a range of skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
- Mentor and support young trainees, helping them build confidence and technical skills in media production.
Content Development:
- Assist young people in creating their own radio shows, podcasts, and other media content.
- Provide guidance on scriptwriting, interviewing, storytelling, and broadcasting techniques.
- Encourage creative expression and collaboration among trainees.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of studio usage, equipment, and project progress.
- Coordinate studio bookings and training sessions.
- Ensure proper cataloguing and archiving of trainee projects and media content.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other staff members to develop new media programmes and projects.
- Collaborate with external partners to provide media opportunities and events for trainees.
Weekend/Project Support:
- Occasionally provide studio supervision and support during weekend events or special projects.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Proven experience in radio broadcasting, podcasting, and media production.
- Strong technical knowledge of studio equipment (radio consoles, audio mixers, microphones, editing software, etc.).
- An understanding of PlayoutOne and Aiir software (Training will be provided if required).
- Experience in training or mentoring young people, with the ability to engage and inspire.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail.
- A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment but is also able to work independently.
- Self-motivated, with a passion for youth development and giving young people a voice.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends as required.
